Light Up Trails - The all-star artist line-up is announced!

This Christmas, Light Up Trails is creating a stunning and immersive one-mile long light art walk on the beautiful grounds of Wiston Estate, based in Steyning. Inspired by the theme ‘Hope’ in what has been a difficult year for many, this is the perfect treat for friends and family of all ages. The beauty of this trail is revealed to the public on the 8th December 2020 and will run until 3rd January 2021 between 4pm and 10pm.

The world renowned artists who are creating the installations have a host of previous work which provide a small insight into the beauty that will be unveiled at Light Up Wiston Estate.

James Smith is the only artist who is creating four installations for the event and has previously collaborated on projects for Light Up Trails around the UK. He also oversaw and designed installations for the phenomenally successful Light Up Poole festivals in 2019 and 2020.

The opening piece at the Christmas Trail will be the ‘Garden of Hope’; an immersive place of peace which brings tranquillity and relaxation to guests. James has also created the festive illumination ‘Christmas at Wiston House’, ‘Reflections’, and finally, at the end of the trail is The Enchanted Forest, a magical, mesmerising, contemporary walk through the woods.

As a highly experienced and much in-demand lighting designer, James has worked in the global entertainment industry for more than 16 years. He has a lengthy list of theatrical credits to his name, including touring productions of The Greatest Showman, The Wind in the Willows musical, Mamma Mia and Jekyll and Hyde. His most recent work, in the critically acclaimed West End production of City of Angels is waiting in the wings to open when allowed.
